    Kings Catch All - 8

With a cursorary glance at UFA defensemen. Edler, Kronwall, Sbisa. I'm genuinely scared. And that's before you add in Methot, Engelland, and Orpik.
  3. Rakell for an "A". Pump up the SWE bloc.
  4. Henrique or Silvferberg would be the only two I’d consider. If Perry doesn’t get moved, I’d add him to the list.
  5. Seriously? He captained two tank jobs where RC gets canned. At least he seems not to come unsectioned with the refs anymore. That was a severe leadership shortcoming....Personally, I don’t think he’s a great captain. Great hockey player though. Still a 1C after almost 1000 regular season games is an accomplishment. I’d like to see another captain appointed, but that wont happen. There are not a great number of options to choose from in replacing him. Henrique might be a good replacement? but he could get traded at the draft....
  6. Thought the same thing myself. Also maybe Eakins wasn’t a slam dunk for the job.....I wish him well.
  7. Maybe. But it will be interesting to see how the young players react to his coaching. Maybe we will see them progress this year under his guidance. Would also be interesting to see what system he will implement. I would assume more of an offensive system, though honestly I never followed the gulls so would be interesting to hear what we can expect from the team if anyone can give some input. Could Ricky, Kase, silfverberg and other younger talents score 30+ goals and finally get our scoring up? What about the defense? We can argue about whether or not the hiring is a good one but we're stuck with it for next season at least. So we might as well discuss what systems changes are going to happen. Seems like at this point anything is better than RC, but how much? Under BB we had the down year in scoring and he implemented a defense first system and it worked well. Though most games were like 2-1, we let in the least goals that year. At this point I'm just excited we're finally making some changes.
  8. I'm pretty disappointed in the coaching hire. Unwhelming much? He couldn't do it earlier, he never did anything with the gulls (never won anything) and now by some magic ju ju he is going to be a good NHL coach? On what planet does that happen? Orange County I guess. Zero expectations. No playoffs. The press conference is going to have sentences like: "we feel Dallas is the best choice for our group going forward and we feel fortunate to have him coaching our young players"... "we did our due diligence and felt he was the best fit for our organization and look forward to next season..." barf barf barf... It's just uninspiring. And so predictable.
  9. Maybe BM was interviewing for Eakins replacement in San Diego, assistant coaches, etc.?
  10. Why would he? I'm not sure why there's so much talk about the C being taken from Getz. I'm not sure why anyone would think Fowler would do a better job.
  11. And the whole duck's franchise just breathed a sigh of relief... randy isn't the coach... yay!👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉
  12. Not surprised he's getting hired...also I have no qualms with Bob waiting and talking to other people. I mean, you never know if someone else is gonna impress you or not, and if you're not in a hurry, might as well talk to some people to see if something sticks out that you haven't thought about. I'm sure Eakins was already involved with our draft picks considering he was gonna be coaching them at some point with the Gulls...until tomorrow of course lol
  13. Bob also last season called out the defense for no one stepping up to be a leader...so...I'm guessing Fowler isn't exactly the leadership material.
  14. Perhaps a Ransom to get him to stay in Winnipeg. DuckPride 4ever MooseDuck
  15. Totally disagree. Fowler is a soft, injury-prone, zero-intimidating-non-hitting defenceman, whose past season was simply terrible even before he got injured. In some teams he wouldn't make a second pairing. 2 years ago, when he was a potential trade bait, only Detroit and Buffalo offered some meh prospects for him. When you saying that he "has not reached his prime yet", "he always gives 100 percent", "plays hard every shift", "leads by example", and so on, I wonder if you are his PR agent or somehow related to him. For the time being, let's keep Getzlaf as a captain, at least for the next year.
  16. What would even be the point of this though? It's not like we have some younger stud we're symbolically handing the future over to the same way it was back when Getzlaf got named captain. It's literally pointless change for the sake of change. He's not Joe Thornton disappearing nearly every spring, being outplayed by his teammates and taking the fall while his stacked team implodes. He's been both the best performer and leader on the team throughout his tenure. He still is. The team clearly goes as he goes and the last 9 seasons have been the most consistently successful stretch this franchise has had. They haven't won a cup during his tenure but I don't see how anyone can point a finger and blame him seeing as how Silfverberg has been the only guy whose playoff performances even come close to Getzlaf's. Stripping him for Fowler too? Just.. why?
  17. Lol. Hey, it was about a potential new captain too. Ha. Ha. I think you're right though. Getzlaf is a great leader and will likely keep the "C."
  18. Way to hijack a thread about the new coach in the second post lol. I think it's going to be obvious to Eakins pretty quick what a good leader Getzlaf is.
  19. Tomorrow it be made official yet I can never stand why interview others for Ducks Head Coaching Position when we know who will be the Ducks 9th Head Coach. DuckPride 4ever MooseDuck

  21. I wonder if Dallas Eakins will shock everybody and take the "C" away from Ryan Getzlaf, sort of like it was taken away from Joe Thornton in San Jose. I hope not. However, if that happens, who would you want to be given the "C" and made "Captain" of our team this upcoming season? If it's me, I wouldn't mind seeing Cam Fowler with the "C." For one, he is signed long-term and will be here many more years. He is still only 27 years old, and has not reached his prime yet. Also, I do not think I've ever seen him "take a shift off." He always gives 100 percent. I know some folks around here aren't the biggest Cam Fowler fans. Some wouldn't mind seeing him traded. For me, though, he deserves the nickname "Mr. Consistent," because he usually is very consistent. Plays hard every shift. Never gets too high or too low. Pretty even keel. Chips in with a good goal when we need one. Can run the power play. Good passer. Has improved greatly on defense. And leads by example, with how hard he works, how he trains, not taking bad penalties, etc. Further, he is one of the best skaters in the NHL. His "speed game" is made for the "New NHL." He also learned from the best, as he had a room with the Niedermeyer's when first breaking in the league. Plus, although he has a peaceable personality, he is "tough as nails." He had a major jaw injury last year, and seemed to be back after only a few weeks. That's pretty gutsy. He has also overcome other injuries in the past as well, showing his grit and dedication to this team. So, I am hoping Getzlaf keeps the "C." However, if it has to go to somebody else, I hope Fowler gets it. How about you? LET'S...GO...DUCKS!

  23. and there it is... LOL like I said it was always going to be him. Interviewing others was always a sham.
  24. Wow, 6 mil? I didn't even know he was paid that much. What was Winnipeg thinking?
  25. he already wants more money... it would be interesting what Jets want to give him and what he wants....
  26. He wasn't good in Edmonton, but in fairness to Eakins, it is the Oilers lol. Their management has been so bad over 10+ years that I appreciate Murray as our GM. Looking at their roster from that year, they had no defense, secondary scoring or true top-line center. I just don't get the needless delay of the Ducks' "coaching search" only to then hire the guy that pretty much everyone was expecting. I'd like to think that Eakins has reflected, learned and evolved from his time in Edmonton and San Diego and will be a better NHL coach because of it. He's definitely taking over at a tough time for the organization, so expectations shouldn't be very high next season. St least he won't have the pressure to make the playoffs go on a deep run and can focus more on development and structure.
