  2. It is at first......Wonder IF where the Ducks will pick in their 2nd First Round. DuckPride 4ever MooseDuck
  3. Today
  4. Hm...I see...it's all very confusing
  5. I agree also. However, Bob Murray is arguably the most likely GM to hire a re-tread lol.
  6. Yep. Goes without saying that star, core pieces are the hardest to acquire. Until we get that foundation set, then I don’t think getting bad contracts off of the books is going to be enough to get back to the WCF. I’m not overly hyped on our prospect pool in the sense that I am not counting on anyone to carry the mantles of 15 and 10 and even 17. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if we have a Rakell caliber player lol.
  7. Totally agree. @helenenothelen Will Jim Montgomery's success to date with the Dallas Stars make NHL general managers more open to hiring college coaches? Maybe instead of endlessly recycling the same folks who have failed with other NHL teams?
  8. Um. Which one? [edit] Ohhhh, I'm guessing Giordano. There's still a few contenders left.
  9. I could see the Ducks in the WCF once they're down to only one bad contract on the books. Whoever gets traded in the offseason... I'm guessing that's the player that wasn't playing if they weren't 110%. We still need a superstar or two to build around, but otherwise we have a lot of good pieces. The right coach and a couple seasons of making good trades / signings could go a long way.
  10. If St Louis loses in the conference final, they would get the 28th or 29th pick. (The teams that lose in Conference Finals picks 28 and 29). The 20th pick is out of reach by my best questimation. The best scenario is for Trashville and the Caps to lose by the second round since they are division winners. Tampa (128pts) gets the 27th pick, Calgary (107pts) gets the 26th pick. Then we need the Bruins to lose by the second round as well. If all that happens and the Shaks lose by the second round, we end up with the 22nd pick....I think. Correction: If the Stars and Knights lose this round and the Blues, Columbus and Avs lose in the second round, we get the 20th pick but I think that's highly unlikely.
  11. If St Louis loses in the conference final, they would get the 28th or 29th pick. (The teams that lose in Conference Finals picks 28 and 29). 12. So, ok! From my understanding of this and the conditional rules...best case scenario for ducks fan would be... St. Louis, Colorado, Columbus, and Toronto making the conference finals. This would put both San Jose and St. Louis's picks in 20-31 thus meaning we get to choose which teams pick we get...and this puts San Jose at their lowest point (21) that would work within our rules. So, it doesn't matter if Vegas or San Jose wins the first round...just as long neither make it into the conference finals. I think I have that right... Also, obviously, worst case scenario BOTH St. Louis and San Jose make the conference finals...
  13. Assuming all of the teams currently ahead in their series win, it would be 23. Lightning 22. Calgary 21. Boston 20. San Jose 19. Nashville 18. Pittsburgh 17. Winnipeg 16. Carolina With Dallas vs St. Louis Vegas vs. Colorado Washington vs NYI Columbus vs Toronto If that happens, San Jose will end up at pick 23, no matter who wins any of those series. Also, if that happens, even if St. Louis loses, the highest pick they could get is 18, so that doesn't help. If we want St. Louis to end up at 20, we need San Jose and Nashville both to come back in their series, and then Columbus, Colorado, and St. Louis all to lose their next series.
  14. That sounds about right.....this is how the NHL Draft is set up in First Round order from Bottom Dweller to Stanley Cup Champ at the Bottom of Round 1. DuckPride 4ever MooseDuck
  15. Update for you all Max Comtois scored a Goal in Q-league Semifinals.....Unfortunately His team DrummondVille Loss to Morand/Groulx and Mooseheads. DuckPride 4ever MooseDuck
  16. I got this from wiki so I don't know how accurate it is: The teams that did not qualify for the playoffs the previous season (picks 1–15) The teams that made the playoffs in the previous season but did not win either their division in the regular season or play in the Conference Finals (picks 16–23 up to 27) The teams that won their divisions in the previous season but did not play in the Conference Finals (potentially picks 24–27) The teams that lose in Conference Finals (picks 28 and 29) The team that was the runner-up in the Stanley Cup Finals (pick 30) The team that won the Stanley Cup in the previous season (pick 31)
  17. Alright! Sooo...now that the Blues won...their pick will be for sure after 20, right? So now it doesn't matter what the Sharks or Blues do anymore? Well, no, nevermind, we want the Blues NOW to lose, right? Sharks = always wanting them to lose.
  18. I think that the time from getting swept by SJ to the firing of Carlyle in February, was one of worst stretches of hockey that I have ever seen the organization play. They were embarrassingly bad, regardless of who was in the lineup. My frustration has been with management more than anything. They started looking like a functional team after firing Carlyle, but it's going to take a lot more than a uni change and probably a couple of more seasons before this team is sniffing a WCF appearance...assuming the prospects are better than expected and Murray makes a couple of savvy trades.
  19. +1. So we had a -50ish if I remember right this year. I'm guessing those two were -70ish? Goal differential is a better measure. Still, how do you capture lack of skill vs. lack of effort? That 11-12 season had a high turnover rate as well if I remember right.
  20. Yesterday
  21. The 11-12 season is when Carlyle was fired. The modern era Ducks worst regular seasons were with Carlyle behind the bench except for the Cup season of course. The worst goal differential was the 00-01 season. The worst modern era goal differential was the 11-12 season.
  22. It isn't the missing or making the playoffs, but the how and why in my opinion. The first ten seasons were fun, even though they only made a few playoffs in the process.
  23. The least amount of points and fewest wins was the 00-01 season. I guess you can blame the Y2K bug for that. More recently, it was the 11-12 season where they finished with an almost identical record as this season. In 11 seasons under Disney, they missed the playoffs 8 times. Under the Samueli's they missed the playoffs only 3 times including this season. For a comparison, the Ducks and Panthers started at the same time. The Panthers have made the playoffs only 5 times in their history. I would say in the Samueli area, we have been pretty spoiled with playoff hockey.
  24. The last season was one of the roughest. There were those seasons where the team started slow for a few years, or that handful of years where the teamwide passing game was brutal (at the peak of the drop-pass-turnover era). But so much of this season was the frustration of injuries with the frustration of lack of passion stacked on. I almost want to say we're due for a uniform change, just to put this season clearly in the rearview mirror. What season was worse than this last one?
  25. If SJ is eliminated in the first two rounds their pick is 22-24. Assuming Toronto is about to eliminate Boston. I can't see a way for St Louis to be the 20 pick, unless SJ and WPG play in the West Conf Finals. The most likely outcome is San Jose with the 23rd pick currently. 31-28 Conf finals and Stanley Cup VGK/COL (or SJ) NYI/WAS (or CAR) TOR (or CBJ) DAL/STL (or WPG) 27 Tampa 26 Calgary 25 Boston 24 Was/Nyi (CAR could make them 24 and 23 in theory at least) 23 San Jose 22 Nashville 21 Pittsburgh 20 Winnipeg 19 Carolina 18 St Louis
  26. The knee breaker will never win a Stanley Cup.

    playoff game...

That just means our draft pick gets worse. I don't care about the Sharks nor their fan base and I hope they get booted in the first round. They've been Bettman's west coast darlings from day one.

    playoff game...

Geo is a malicious dirty player. Can’t stand him. Hope Sharks can tie up their series and beat Vegas. Fans there have gone through a lot of ups and downright failures. Good fan base and lots have been around since the teams inception in the 90s. Vegas on the other hand prob has the most band wagoners in the entire league. They have not suffered a single season at all. None. Hope the Sharks can kick it into gear and do the reverse sweep on Vegas and their supposed 2 year old fan base. Gimme a break.
