  1. oh my god....this is heartbreaking.... And WOW! The Bobby Ryan part....they don't just subtly talk about the Ducks management...they full on call them out for firing a trainer for trying to find better ways to keep players healthy...wow. It was specifically for the Gulls...so I'm not sure how much it effect the Ducks...but yeah, really curious if there's some connection to all of this for how/why the Ducks had so many injuries and their play suffered... Also I'm sure they all knew of Kesler's diagnose. That definitely can play a part. Here a player gets a chronic disease from PAINKILLERS...could be the same ones they were taking...makes you stop and think for a second...and then you see a trainer get fired for looking for other ways...I'm sure as a player...seeing all this...I dunno, I think it would make you 2nd guess the management's priorities. It would effect you mentally. It'll make it harder to be focused. Ok, I'm making some leaps..it's just...so heartbreaking to see what happened to Kesler...
  2. Yeah, the more I think about it and read about it, the more this makes sense. I could still see the Wings taking Rossi though. I know Stevie Y likes to go off the board...but...when a player falls into your lap...you should probably take it haha
  3. exactly. Ottawa can't miss that opportunity. They would be SET. Honestly you're right...they really should be taking Drysdale at #3 to guarantee they can get a star in each position. And could you imagine if somehow Askarov is available at 28????? Ottawa's dream haha hopefully! I mean...not sure who exactly on the Kings team is known for their "leadership" Kopi at most....but Doughty and Quick have clear attitude issues. Brown is Brown....apparently Brown and Sutter during the playoff runs were at each other's throats...not that Sutter is there anymore. Anyway...not exactly looking at any of those Kings players as great role models and can help with character issues...or great examples of overcoming that.... sigh...he would have been better in Anaheim 😪😪😪😪😪😪
  4. Saaaaaaaaaaaaaame. Ugh. That's gonna hurt I think. We'll see though...time will tell.
  5. I'm really starting to come around on Rossi haha...from the discussion here and reading more and more about him... ...although the more I do, the more I can't imagine him being available by the 6th pick. And while I'd be fine with a Drysdale pick...I'd be less excited about him than Holtz or Perfetti ....or Stutzle or Byfield or Lafreniere haha but that's 'cause ...god do we need a scorer. Honestly, I think we need a player that is self motivated more than anything else (aka Rossi). Just 'cause I don't trust our development program right now... and with whomever is available at 6...we need first the hardest, most self motivated worker....then we need the best scorer. I think my priority list is now more: Lafreniere, Byfield, Rossi, Holtz, Perfetti, Stutzle But I'd be excited about any of them (including Drysdale and Raymond) but I think that's where the priority would be for me. I think there's a CHANCE the Kings go with Stutzle since he has more of what they need than Byfield...then Ottawa takes Byfield...Wings take Rossi...Ottawa comes back with Drysdale...leaving us basically Holtz, Perfetti, or Raymond. I'd still go with Holtz of those 3...'cause we.need.scoring. We've got a great passer in Zegras. Steel can make big steps. And Terry looks like a natural distributor, too....we need a scorer. But like Sex said...he's not called Goal Perfetti for nothing lol but if we can get the best shot in the draft...that could be huge. Ugh! Unless we do something dumb like trade away the 6 or pick...a goalie...or someone off the board...we're gonna get such a great player!!
  6. Man...Tampa was just smooooothering there in the end...but it didn't help that Dallas couldn't get anything clean and kept whiffing on shots and kept basically just doing one-and-done. Just like they were saying after game 1 about Dallas to Tampa..... to Dallas: Tampa aint the same as the teams they faced in the west. Vegas, Colorado, Calgary...that may have been a tied game... Ugh! I find this series so entertaining!! I hope it goes to 7!!
  7. I think that's it....can't count Shattenkirk haha Also, I LOOOOVE how they have the Cup sitting up high looking down the whole series...I think that's so cool
  8. Man it's amazing to watch Tampa "turn it on" like they did in the 3rd...but also so great watching Khudobin play...just great watching top talented people playing well
  9. ooooweee what a STARt for the STARs! Big hits....the series is young
  10. Yeah, yeah...same. Definitely rooting for Dallas. I want Dallas in 7...then Lightning in 7....then Dallas in whatever lol Especially after hearing about their coaches story...honestly, when these playoffs started I couldn't have told you the name of the Stars head coach (and I can name...almost every teams head coach...)...and then I read he HAS COACHED THE MOST GAMES IN NHL HISTORY (when taking into account head coaching AND assistant coaching). I legit thought he was some new, up and coming coach that just got promoted and was getting his first taste in the hot seat...lol...nope! he was the assistant to Cooper in the Lightning which is really interesting. And also he coached the 92 Ottawa Senators lol...soooo...yeah...but apparently the players love him and from what I've been reading, I REALLY like him. If Dallas wins...it's gonna be a big push to keep the mantra "defense wins championships" and also that would be 2 years in a row that interim head coaches won a cup...which would be really interesting to see what that would do for future coaches... If Tampa wins...man what a great redemption story that would be. And would be a great one for teams that have similar upsets and can use Tampa as an example.
  11. A lot of people seem to think this will be a short series with a Tampa win....wouldn't be surprised lol and not too upset by that. I'd rather the Stars win, but Lightning are cool, too. But I don't care who wins if it goes to 7 games!...I'm rooting for a 7-game series...only for the fact that if it does...that would mean they would award the Stanley Cup on my birthday! Never in my whole life did I ever think there would be a meaningful game on my birthday....let alone the potential for a Stanley Cup Finals Game 7!! Soooo...let's go Game 7! *clap clap clapclapclap!*
  12. I hope not..... I mean, he was on pace for another 9 goals this season...who knows what happens next season. But without the lockouts...he could easily have another....75 goals. That would put him at 84 more goals he could have had... that would put him at 790 goals right now.... I think (hope) he'll just continue to play...and basically become a power play specialist...unless it just becomes too out of reach. But if he's feeling even at 50% and he's within 30....I think he pushes through.
  13. Boooolts!!! Marooooon! 2 finals in a row!
  14. I am SO SICK of the tampa players blocking a shot in their D zone and going down to the ice and staying there, holding their head (despite not having their head hit), hoping for a whistle to stop the pressure...then don't get it. And get up slowly...and the moment the puck is near them suddenly back at full speed and everything's fine the rest of the shift. uuuuugggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh happened twice in this 3rd period that I noticed...
  15. Yeeeep. And there are I guess a few teams showing interest in him....and that's a real shame for Vegas I'd say...Fleury was such a face for that team. I wonder if it'll have any impact on them or if it did during the playoffs.
  16. Got it. That makes sense. And I guess with this particular one...I'm OK with it haha because....... I very much agree with this haha along with a general love for ex-Ducks Perry/Cogliano/Khudobin. And a general love for "defense wins championships" (a bit old school with that). And wanting us to get a cup before Theo so we can feel like ultimately we made the right choice...when...we so very much didn't as it looks right now lol This is a great explanation! thank you! this is great for understanding it...I'm going to let this marinate for a bit...it's still a lot haha Yeah, I get this. And I see what you're saying. And honestly, Vegas probably shouldn't change much. But I do think they need to work on their attitude and perspective a bit (here comes the mumbo jumbo). I do think there is a value in failure though and that 2019 Tampa team didn't really face much failure at all till the playoffs and they had no idea how to come out of it. Yes they had injuries and played against a hot team, but it's a great learning experience for them to figure out how do you play/win when you aren't playing well and goals aren't going in. You become a much stronger player if you are capable to learn how to be effective and still produce when you're not playing as well. How to get your game back without holding your stick too tight or over thinking. Losing like Tampa did...that helps you do that. And it can also be used as great motivation for the next run...like now. But absolutely like you're saying, it would be wrong for Vegas to explode their team. I agree with that. I think this is a great analysis on BM. And I didn't even really think about that till now. This does hurt the identity of the team. You gotta look at the core players and see what kind of team you should be building that build to their strengths and fixes their weaknesses. Yeah, I agree, Tampa shouldn't change anything (except praying for less injuries, yes). But, I will say if they let last nights game rattle them...that's on them. And they need to not let that shake their confidence. And that is also a factor. They need to look at Game 1 and ...whichever 2 others they won lol and remember they can score on this team. They don't need to be rattled or have any insecurities seep in. They got this.
  17. geeeezz....we do not have much room haha agreeeed. Demko was phenomenal in the playoffs. Unless they want that 1A/1B option with whatever the schedule is the next season. Seems a lot of GMs thinking about that moving into the immediate future at least.
  18. I'm with ya on Drysdale over Holtz/Raymond, too. Watching more of his highlights and hearing the comparison to Makar...I wouldn't mind that at all haha I'm not super into Raymond. But man, we're gonna be getting a good player one way or another!
  19. Right it's an attempt to do it, it may not be perfect, but I'd be curious to hear other ways to make a best-of-7 series do a better job at having the better-on-paper team win. To an extent, the underdog/upsets are really fun, imo. And I still would say Dallas ALSO had it's fair share of bad luck. Bad calls against, shots against posts, Lehner/Fleury making great saves...probably just didn't happen as much since, you are correct, Dallas didn't shoot as much as Vegas. I wish I could find the article talking about the perimeter shots (was on theSCORE app or the Athletic...) 'cause I'm not great at just looking at advanced stats and being able to fully understand what they are saying...proof in I went to Natural Stat Trick and was like "...cool....nope" lol And yeah, I agree, Vegas outplayed Dallas. But to what end? You can shoot as much as you want, have all the advanced stats predict all the good things for you...it's ultimately all in the results. What's the result? If you don't win the game, none of that matters. I'm very much a results based person. I think advanced stats are super interesting and a great attempt to try and use stats to predict things, but the problem with them is if Vegas uses them as a comfort blanket and just says "well, we should have won but it was just a hot goalie and they got lucky" they'll never actually address their own issues and thus wont actually address their problems and they wont improve. Tampa did the opposite. They looked hard at themselves and their team and made some adjustments. Took responsibility for the loss and made adjustments. Everyone on that team...except maybe Lehner, Fleury, Stone, and Theo need to look at themselves and see what they could have done better and how they can improve. Not saying a huge overhaul. Just need to look honestly at themselves and their game and make the changes that make sense.
  20. Don't underestimate what heart will and grit brings to a series. Vegas did. And they're not in the playoffs anymore. I haven't looked at the actual stats from the series, but I was reading an article basically saying most of those Vegas shots were on the perimeter and not high danger shots. That's not by chance. That's not luck. Dallas went up against the goalie with the most shutouts in the playoffs...they ALSO had shots not go in due to a hot goalie. But they also found ways to score -- like the better team will. The problem with trying to blame "luck" for a team winning is it ignores all the unlucky things that happened to them. Dallas ALSO had unlucky bounces/calls. Hit tons of posts. But we don't talk about those...or remember them 'cause Dallas played through them and made them not matter. Dallas made that dumb goalie interference call in the 3rd, didn't get the call. Right call if you ask me, but obviously not to the Stars, otherwise why challenge? But they didn't let that effect them. Khudobin banged his stick against the ice after the review as if saying "forget about it, lets move on." They regrouped and won that game in OT. Vegas put themselves in situations where "unlucky" things dictated their fate. Dallas didn't. Heart, will, and grit (and leadership) is what gets you through adversity. And the lack of it is EXACTLY why Tampa lost to Columbus. If you ask any player on that tampa team if they are a better team now than last year BECAUSE of that Columbus series, they would say yes. Knowing how to get through adversity is also part of being the better team. Dallas is in the finals. It's not luck that they've come from behind who knows how many times to win games (it's a lot, I think the most of any team this playoffs). And I'm not saying that's all you need. Obviously you need skill/talent, too. And ONE game doesn't decide this. I'm saying in the context of a series. I don't think just 'cause one team wins one game they are the better team. A best-of-7 series is meant to determine who is the better team. If the best team is just the one that shoots the most and looks the best on paper -- well that's a different game than hockey.
  21. Super stoked to see all 3 of them in the finals!! so excited for Cogs and Khudobin getting their first taste...and it's gonna be exciting seeing Perry there again! I think Perry retires if they win. He seems to have lost his hands and his legs got worse...and they weren't great to begin with haha he still has his toughness and perseverance and passion and hockey IQ and can still get under the opponents skin...he's still effective, maybe 50% of the time, which aint bad considering he isn't the player he used to be! Dallas is using him well. 2nd PP time is great. Get him in front of the goalie. I bet he's great in the locker room, too. Did you see how excited he was when they scored in OT?? Brings me joy seeing that Perry scream face. But anyway, I digress. I think Perry retires if they win, yeah.
  22. I disagree. Vegas didn't just meet up with a hot goalie...their scoring issues stemmed from the last 3 games in their previous series where they scored only 2 goals in 3 games (not including empty netters). Both of which were ONE person (Theo). Their stars disappeared (pun intended). That's not a sign of the better team. We also faced a hot goalie in Luongo and Hasek and Emery...didn't matter to us. We still won the cup. The Devils faced arguably the hottest goalie in playoffs history...didn't matter, they won the cup in 2003. The better team pushes through adversity. The better team comes up clutch when you need to. The better team doesn't over think and pass WAAAY too much instead of shoot (like Vegas did). The better team has depth. The better team wins the battle of attrition (captain: Cogliano). The better team evolves their game if they need to. They BARELY closed out Vancouver after being up 3-1. They didn't close out San Jose last year when up 3-1 and forgot how to penalty kill in game 7. Lehner had 4 shutouts in his past 4 wins. He made remarkable saves. Has a style that I just don't understand but it works somehow. You can't say he also wasn't a hot goalie coming into this series. That didn't matter to Dallas. Vegas wasn't the better team. If they were...they would have won. Perry was a huge factor in that game. So happy to see even if he's not scoring, he can make a positive impact!
  23. hmm maybe...I dunno. Their complete lack of scoring in those last 8 games was troubling though...sure they picked it up a little bit...but obviously not enough... I've seen rumors of Fleury possibly being traded to Nashville...just rumors. Not sure if there's actually any legs to it...probably just some random kid making it up lol but yeah, you wonder about that whole tweet thing...
  24. wow...wow....wowowowowowowowow....so happy to see Perry back in the finals!! And cogliano!!! Gets his first taste of the finals!! so excited for them!! And Khudobin!! wooooo!!! That's not on Whitecloud...he wasn't even on the ice for that goal. That's on Vegas for not being able to win a game without it being a shutout... Go Stars!! I can thoroughly just enjoy the Finals now. Basically fine with any of the remaining teams.
