  1. Not too sure about that. All of the top seeds apart from Boston have been eliminated. A lot will depend on jones but if he plays well I can see them go all the way.
  2. I'd also hand this one to the sharks. I even think this might be their year if you see who's already been eliminated. Not to take anything away from the remaining teams but looking at their roster and home ice they should be able to come out of the West. Then again you never now with martin jones aka 'getting 03 Jiggy with it' or 50 shades of dan cloutier'.
  3. Getzlaf, Perry & Kesler are getting there in age but we have a solid core in place. If Getz can stay healthy he's still very much a #1 Center. A new (good) coach will go a long way.
  4. Man leafs fans will go crazy after this one. Isn't that a third game 7 loss against the Bruins in like 5 years? Can't wait till they announce the Marner contract. I want offers sheets!! And I have nothing against Tavares but I do find it kinda funny he's out and the Isles are going through. These Playoffs are sick. It's really anyone's game. No more favorites.
  5. I'm totally with you on this one. If our Ducks don't win it I root for whoever plays against the preds. So sweet. And the flames getting eliminated is a nice bonus. This season sucked for sure but finally something to be excited about.
  6. You're right. There's not much depth but that top line is sick. If you can contain them no problem but if you can't... Was ottawa much more than a top line in 2007? In the end they didn't go all the way but they got close. Joe Sakic will have a lot of work this summer. Lots of RFA's and UFA's but apart from Rantanen none will get a big payday. If Sakic can make a few good signings I can see the Avs make some noise in The Playoffs next year. But you're right in saying it can just as easily be the other way around. An injury or downyear from one of their top guys and they're probably in the bottom.
  7. No matter how bad this team is, if we make it to The Playoffs we always stand a chance against winnipeg and calgary. We may get blown out by every other team in the West but those two teams fear us
  8. If BM moves Rakell he can move himself afterwards.
  9. Is it really? Don't get me wrong I love it when Getzlaf turns on the beastmode and powers his way along the boards but what makes him great in my book is how he sees the game. Getzlaf has tremendous vision and on top of that he has the ability to make those sick passes. IMO that's his biggest strength. When Getzlaf is on the top of his game you won't find many better passers than him, minus the stupid drop passes of course I don't know if he wouldn't have been as good if he were smaller (and probably faster and more agile). But again I love the fact that he's big and strong. It makes him so fun to watch. To stay on topic, reading about the prospects makes me believe Kirby Dach is a Ryan Getzlaf type player. I've never seen him play but I often read big frame, great passer, pass first mentality,... Too bad we won't get our hands on him.
  10. Thanks for that garden gnome comment. Really can't stand that leprechaun.
  11. I don't think the jackets will go all the way. I simply meant that their next opponent, be it toronto or boston, might have their work cut out for them. You mentioned it'll be important if they can stay healthy. In sweeping the 1st round they didn't play more than they had to. Meanwhile if toronto and boston beat eachother up a bit more I think it's safe to say the jackets will be more healthy and rested (and more rusty of course). Also their PP was clicking. Meanwhile toronto's pk is pretty bad. Whoever makes it out of the 1st round, it'll be an interesting series against the jackets.
  12. Congrats on the Gulls for taking game 1. Must have been a wild one.
  13. Well they didn't waste a lot of energy going for the sweep. There'll be more pressure on boston or toronto. It'll sure be interesting.
  14. Thanks. They have a lot of talent on their roster. If bob can stay hot the jackets can make life hard on a lot of teams.
  15. Speaking of CBJ. I don't watch a lot of hockey outside our Ducks. Did they outplay the bolts or did Vasilevskiy have a rough series? Would you guys call them Cup favorites after this series? They do have to go through toronto probably.
  16. Speaking of CBJ. I don't watch a lot of hockey outside our Ducks. Did they outplay the bolts or did Vasilevskiy have a rough series? Would you call them Cup favorites after this series? The Isles beating the caps and then the leafs would be pure awesomeness.
  17. I really don't think montreal is ready to give up on Drouin who has room to grow. The young guys as you say don't offer immediate help. I can't see it. It would be fun though to draft Suzuki and then trade for his brother. Two Suzukis in a Honda Center would be funny.
  18. Interesting. Though I have a hard time picturing the canadiens parting ways with drouin, domi or kotkaniemi. Btw I'm too sure about drouin myself. A bit of a character I think. Kotkaniemi would be great but so would the asking price be. Anyway there's a lot of options out there. BM sure has an opportunity to make up for this lost season.
  19. I was thinking the exact same thing. Then again do we have to add? His numbers the past two seasons have been less than stellar and he does cost 4.9 mil. I don't think many teams are eager to pay much. That is if they want to get rid of him. On one hand I'm thinking they'll be glad to. On the other hand I think maybe they lose Panarin, Duchene and Dzingel and can't afford to lose another forward. Anyway I wouldn't blame BM for going after him. That's a reclamation project I can totally get behind. If he doesn't pan out we can expose him in the expansion draft. If he does we add a good young center to our forward core at a reasonable contract.
  20. Man the avs really burned the flames down to the ground. I always thought the flames had to do something about their goaltending but if you allow 56 (!) SOG you have to fix a whole of other stuff too me thinks. Makar scores in his 1st game. If the Avs get lucky in the upcoming draft (with probably Dach, Byram or Cozens) they're going to be fun to watch.
  21. Well how do we feel about kadri after his latest stunt? That's two years in a row he does something stupid. While I believe the leafs have enough talent up front to overcome kadri's absence he does hurt his team's chances of advancing. Would you guys take a gamble on Alex Wennberg? I think it's safe to say he's no longer needed in Columbus. He hasn't seen any Playoffs action and has put up some lousy numbers in the regular season. But he did score 59 points 2 years ago. Still only 24 years old. If he can hit those point totals again he's definitely worth his contract (4.9 mil signed through 2023). Another option could be Matty Dooch but my guesses are he'll be looking for the big bucks. And BM isn't the type to throw money at big name UFA's.
  22. So much this. I expected the jackets to put up a fight but I don't think anyone saw this coming. That's just brutal. It ain't over of course but coming back from 3-0 doesn't happen that often.
  23. You gotta love these Islanders. I expected little from them after losing their best player but they exceeded my expactations and judging by the highlights they're playing some fun hockey. Eberle is feeling it and that place is rocking. I'm glad for their fans.
  24. Do not like tonight's results. I want the canes, avs & bruins to advance. 2 goals for Marner. I'm curious to see how dubas is going to handle that contract. Guy should get 10 mil at least.
