Mandatory Visors On The Way

Recommended Posts

Something that was inevitable, but I still thought was a few years away. The NHL and NHLPA have agreed to make visors mandatory for all players.

BUT it is only for new players entering the league. Current players can still decide whether or not to wear one, much like when the league introduced mandatory helmets.

Is it just me, or is Ryan Getzlaf a much better player without a visor?

He's a much better player period. =)

I only started watching hockey in the mid-90s, so it was pretty weird to see a few guys like Craig MacTavish skating around without helmets. It seemed ridiculous to be honest.

For me it was watching Bobby Nystrom and Clark Gillies on those epic Islanders teams play without helmets...

Never really thought about it much back then. Pucks didn't elevate nearly as much and cheap shots were better self policed.
