OK, guys, let bring ourselves down to earth. Remember, Emerson Etem who scored 62 goals in juniors?

Not every WHL star becomes an impact player in NHL level, but it's good to realize that we have at least one really good

prospect at forward position.

This is true, but I think Steel is a more well rounded player than Etem. He's defensively sound and plays a more gritty game in the corners. Steel has a better chance at being a regular NHL player than Etem did IMO.

I'm happy he plays with an edge and he'll stick up for his teammates. But that was reckless, just a nasty play. I don't want to see that kind of stuff back.

Both picked at the end of the 1st round (29th and 30th)

I won't be sold on Steel until he starts playing against better competition.

He just needs a twin to complement him like Perry had Getz along for the ride

Hmmmmmmmmmm,Steel having some troubles in scoring goals lately,

not scored a goal in 8 games and only 3 points for last 3 games with -3 plus minus

last night Pats broke their losing streak (3 games) Steel got couple of assists.

If you're going to punish someone for slashing your goalie, no stick to the chops. Damn, just scrap him and bust his chops that way. He's got the right mentality, just the manner of execution was utter Dehydrated Donkey Dunge. That's a fiver on the pine pony.

I appreciate the rough part of his game, but he's gotta keep it clean.

So no one has posted about Sam Steel for a while, you probably still following his season pretty closely thou,i pressume.

Lots of happened since last post,Steel and Pats have 2 regular season games left.

Sam Steel 16-17 so far: 49 goals,81 assists,130 points in 64 games, +48 with 40 penalty minutes

PPP: 14+29=43 | SHP: 5+5=10 | 5 game winning goals.

Leads both WHL and CHL in points with 6 points margin over OHL's Alex Debrincat of the Otters.

If you watch him play, he plays very very similar to Giroux style.

.@AnaheimDucks prospect @ssteel23 is the 2016-17 Bob Clarke Trophy winner as the WHL's top scorer (50G-81A-131PTS, 66GP)!

 Very cool.

Question: for those who have watched him play. His he creative with his goal scoring? Does he find different ways to score in different areas? Does he use his team players around him?

I can't answer all your questions but I can show you this. It's Game 3 and Steel scores goal #1, 2 and 5. This kid has a quick release and a helluva snipe to combine.

Thanks Poum. Steel looks to be a keeper. He makes it look pretty easy making me hope he can transition well into Ahl and NHL as there will be much more stringent competition. At least he has different moves and tactics of attacking the net and doesn't appear to be a one trick pony like Etem who always relied on the same strategy (blowing by the side and shooting off a shot). The variation in which he chooses to score shows that he is creative and not tied to one method which is great. He seems like he sees and picks his shots which is fantastic. Traits that are very good to have at his age. He looks small though but there seems to be more smaller players in the game today who are successful. Hope he continues to develope and learns even more ways to score.
