With Miller signed for 2 X $2M, Ducks cap space per Cap Friendly: PROJECTED CAP SPACE q.svg : $3,515,833

Should be a little over $4m, really, because they currently have 15 forwards, 7 d-men, and 2 goalies on our NHL roster. One of those forwards, at least, is gonna be in the AHL, so knock at least $650k off that projected cap hit.

Agreed. I would say 2, Kerdiles and Carrick. That would free up about $1.3M. Also:

Worth noting: In 2017-18, NHL teams will be able to get up to $1.025M in salary cap relief for any player sent to the AHL.

Derek Grant signs with Anaheim. $650,000. One way.

This is horrible. The Gulls have players that are just as good that can fill a spot on the Ducks. This is right up there with the waste of money thrown at Boll. If BM was going to sign an AHL player to an NHL contract, why not Cramarossa?

Derek Grant (who?) for $650k. Gulls' signing, really, imo.

So is Carrick's deal, and that's for 2 years at league minimum. Both will be playing for SD. Both are centers, too, which is good; guys with some NHL experience in case of emergency call-ups are good to have.

Cap Friendly has him with the Gulls.

He'd have to pass through waivers either way; two-way deal just means he makes less when playing AHL vs playing NHL, whereas 1-way means it's the same salary wherever he plays.

It was reported yesterday that Marleau is sitting on a 2 yr offer from San Jose. So he is probably seeing what interest there is for him elsewhere. Heard he wanted 3 years and the Sharks gave him two.

Marleau has played 19 seasons for the Sharks....and only missed 31 games...  and no more than 6 in a single season (2008-2009)

now a cheap 5-6th defender and Joe for 2-3 mio and would be happy

We don't need a defender, we're good. I'd rather see Marleau (or Joe, I guess, if the $$ makes sense) to shore up that LW depth, or just some flier guys on 1 yr deals.

Mostly would want Marleau just to see Shark fans cry, though, being honest. I don't know how much he has left in the tank. Joe we just can't afford, imo.

If L.A. is out on Marleau now that they've signed Cammalleri, this also helps Anaheim:

NYR were in on Marleau/Thornton but out on both now that Shattenkirk has signed in NY.

Told SJ is still working on Marleau. Toronto, Dallas and Anaheim still in the mix.

It also helps deflect some of the attention from Brett's beard having an equally major beard on the same squad.

So this is how it feels to dislike Nick Bonino. Weird. Side note, glad we didn't go after Fartnell.
