2017-2018 Injuries

I agree...except i would go as far as not only would it be a success...it's a necessity.

The last few years Anaheim finished October below .500 and won the division both times. In 2015 they only won 1 game in October. This team tends to start slow, and with all the injuries that record would be pretty great. I don't think it's really a necessity.

Ya know, I was thinking about that as well and you're right. I guess I'm thinking more December, when Kesler returns. I know we had that one time where we were last place in the league late December and came out in 2016 destroying the league -- but I don't want to try that again lol

It's been a problem since longer than that. We had rough Octobers in 2009-10 (4-6-2) and 2010-11 (4-7-1) when RC was here too, and our team's inconsistency got him fired two months into the 2011-12 season (7-13-4 at that point). We were also just 3-4-2 last October, so honestly this is just another typical start to a Ducks season with Carlyle at the helm. Sure, we have more serious injuries to blame this time around. But Carlyle-coached Ducks teams just start the season slow. It is what it is. Hopefully November will get  better when some of our best players start returning.

Haha, I forgot that it goes back farther than Bruce and into the last seasons of Carlyle's first stint. Consistently inconsistent is just who we are.

FYI to all...Remember Past season our Ducks have been slow starters many times....cept One season when our Ducks won the Stanley Cup 10 years ago. Many years Ducks slo starts would make us doubt but it should be nothing new for all Ducks Fans who follow this team since Day1.

Eric Stephens: Coach Randy Carlyle said that Ryan Getzlaf and Patrick Eaves are highly doubtful for tonight’s game.

WTH? Five days off and they are still injured? Just put them on the IR Bob. Stop worrying about attendance. Nobody's going to buy tickets until the Ducks start winning anyway.

Just tell the fans how long they will be out so we can have realistic expectations for this season. This secrecy crap is for the birds.

The good news is it sounds like Lindholm, Kase and Miller are all practice regulars the last few days. All should be in the lineup during the upcoming road trip.

Although it looks like Kase is the only one who has a shot to play tonight.  I'd love to end the homestand with a win and get some key guys back for the trip.

Stephens reported Getzlaf skated on his own this morning so that’s something. What’s troubling is Eaves went to see a specialist. That basically means his injury is back to square one. I liked the signing because Eaves fit in really well and the $/year was good for a UFA who just scored 30 goals, however, if Eaves can’t manage to stay healthy... He’s always had injury issues, I was just hoping he’d be good for at least 50 games and the playoffs. Not a good start to the contract at least, he couldn’t even stay healthy over the summer

Was Eaves a non-hockey related injury? I mean, I guess they are all "hockey related" in some way...but it wasn't like he was eating pancakes or something, right?

I wouldn't be surprised if he got hurt while having breakfast at Dustin Penner's house. I never liked that Murray gave him more than a two-year deal...no matter how rad his beard is.

Pancake injuries are definitely hockey related if you are watching hockey at the time.

Man I really wonder how bad some of these injuries are...

Given that Getz held off on hernia surgery last season...it says something that he's been out as long as he is.

Eaves needs to see a specialist, Getz played 2 games and needs around a week to come back. Miller still hasn’t dressed. Our boys who needed surgery look ready to play before them.

That was 2-3 seasons ago, not last season.

If you have a link, I'd like to look at it.  A specialist makes me start to think stuff like... nerve damage, lack of blood flow, non-healing skin damage, or possible flaring infection.  Anything else just seems like a medical diagnosis failure, and it should have been addressed completely and aggressively in the off season with plenty of time to heal.

Sometimes it feels like the team tends to have a hands-off approach to managing the players' heath, particularly with respect to the older players.

That it was. 2014-2015 was the first season, and he didn't go in for surgery between then and 2015-2016.

Looks like Fowler might be done for awhile. It never ends.

Yeah, probably like "until next season" awhile. That looked horrible. If he still has an ACL then I'll be shocked.

Unfortunately it sure looked like he blew out his ACL.

Saw him on tv last night the way he went down one is not sure if it's major or Day-to-Day. Hope it's sprained.

We kinda thought Fowler would be out a long time after Giordano kneed him as well, but he seemed to recover quick. Cam's knees don't recover like a normal human's. He'll be back in a month. Lol.

Eric Stephens reporting Getz is at practice, skating on a line with Rakell and Pears.

Let's hope that you are right lol, but last night's injury seemed to look much worse than Giordano's hit. The way his knee buckled and his weight coming down on it. If he doesn't have major structural damage is able to come back at some point this year then he must be part X-Men.

Good to see that Getzlaf is back at practice. Hopefully, he, and at least Lindholm, will be back during the upcoming 4-game road trip, which is going to be a pretty tough one.

If your right, I will fly out to Canada and kiss you. Sadly, I don't think you are.

To all the Twitter savvy kids, any word of a Fowler update from the team?
