*- Our UFA’s    X- Likely Signs

We will most likely miss out on the big names like always but will make depth additions to boost another run. Would love to see Kovalchuk or Taveres or Carlson in a Ducks jersey but it’s highly unlikely. Hopefully we add one of the second teir guys ( ie Thornton, Nash, JVR, or Neal) to make a second line that can put up points. If not look for us to explore a trade and possibly give up someone like a Silfverberg and Larsson to get some scoring. Perry remains an option to be moved and some talks about even Montour but it would be crazy of Murray to move a young highly skilled right handed d man for anything less than a susperstar based on where we are at. Ritchie is fighting for his spot and could also be moved if he doesn’t start living up to the potential of 10th overall pick and make better decisions with the puck. I use to be a big fan but watching him is frustrating cause he has the talent. Montour and Kase get bridge, cap friendly deals as rfa’s giving us room to add a good player. Welinski will get a prove it deal and will make the opening night line up unless we add a veteran presence on the back end. (Which I believe we will) A mighty ducks line of Kunitz-Cullen-Lupul would be an awesome reunion and could play as a solid fourth line

                       Trade Targets-

LW-                           C-                        RW-

Panarin*                  O’Reilly             Kessel

Skinner*                   Coyle*              Ryan

Pacioretty                                       Reinhart

Lucic*

Burakovsky

                  LD-                           RD-

              Hanifin                        Karlsson*

              Brodin*                          Faulk

              Edler                            Hamilton*

                                                   Trouba

*Must-Trade-For

Would instantly buy a Panarin jersey. Think it could be the move to put us over the top. Karlsson would be amazing but unlikely. Hamilton is more realistic but what’s the price for a 6’6 offensive, right handed defenseman? Most likely out of our budget. Brodin and Coyle both would be great style fits and love how they play. Skinner or Lucic both could instantly add depth and secondary scoring which we need bad.

Have you seen Milan Lucic recently? You think Perry's contract is bad...Lucic is 1000 times worse. There was a report on TSN recently where it said the Oilers would be willing to ADD in order to get rid of his contract. Hard Pass.

I agree that it’s a hard sell but I would be willing to take a chance on a physical left wing that’s proven he can score in the league. He’s one year removed from scoring 23. Perry’s been in a steady decline for the last couple seasons. While I don’t agree with 6 mil a year over the next 5 years til he’s 35, if they would be willing to eat some cap, think it’s a chance worth taking. Don’t get me wrong I love Corey Perry but the man doesn’t skate hard at times and turns it over way too often. Not advocating for him to be moved yet think it would make sense, he’s put 17 and 19 in the last two years which isn’t aweful but at 8.6 million for the next 3 years, I’d pass unless he makes a turnaround which he could if he improves his skating. Plus Lucic’s physical play would excel in the playoffs also and feel if he were to play with Getzy or Henrique, they would get the most out of him as a player.

If we're going to have an albatross contract, I'd rather it be a player who's done amazing things for us in his career and isn't a has-been goon.  When Perry does something frustrating, I get irritated for a minute before I think of the amazing goals he scored for us.

When Lucic does something frustrating, I will hate him and his ridiculous contract even more.  No thanks.

I can respect that. None the less think it would be a last option and not even worth it if they don’t eat up some of the cap hit. Already agreed 6 mil for the next 5 isn’t appealing

What the Ducks DON'T need is another player with a NMC. They just shedded Bieksa's contract which was, in part, the reason the Ducks lost Theodore. Seattle will be getting the same deal as Vegas. Lucic 30 years old with 6 years X $6M per year. Not a contract the Ducks should even consider.

Here's my thoughts.

Sign & trade Nick Ritchie (Priority number 1 is to get this guy the hell out of Anaheim).

During Draft:

Trade 1: Nick Ritchie, Jaycob Megna, 1st Round Pick to Carolina for Jeff Skinner, 4th round pick.  This kills two birds with one stone.

GMBM will make some trades involving draft picks to make up for the loss of the first round pick.

Post Draft:

Free Agent Sign #1: Riley Nash, 3 yrs - 2.3 million

Free Agent Sign #2: Mike Green, 2 yrs - 3.5 mllion

Free Agent Sign #3: J.T. Brown, 1 yr, 1 million

The Nash signing covers up the hole we will have in the line-up with Kesler missing time throughout the year.  The Green signing is safe, gives Fowler a new partner to be free with, and makes our power-play competitive again.

Rakell - Getzlaf - Perry

Skinner - Henrique - Silfverberg

Cogliano - Nash - Kase

Roy - Steel - Brown

Lindolm - Manson

Fowler - Green

Pettersson - Montour

Extras - Kossila, Terry

Gibson

Miller

**Notice Kesler and Eaves are not involved, meaning that if they are healthy, it is not a bad problem to have involving good players coming back into the lineup.

With this new line-up, it's full of speed, power, youth and balance.

Lemme know what you guys think.

I'm willing to give Ritchie one more season but his future is in his own hands. So I hope that this summer he doesn't down copious amounts of hot dogs a beer. As for trades or UFA signings, I'm not expecting much. The Ducks do not have that much cap space and with Gibson becoming an RFA at the end of next season, I wouldn't want to sign a big name for big money.

I like the Skinner trade definitely gives us more scoring on the left side of Henrique and solidifies the second line. I’ve heard Eaves will be back and you can plug him on the wing with getzy and raks. Bumping Perry to either 2nd or 3rd line. Would like to see Terry make it out of camp but with Eaves, Silf, Perry, and Kase in the right hard to see him playing right away unless we move Perry or Silf which is possible. Like Grant better than Nash and he’s cheaper. Steel will make opening night roster. Max Jones will quietly show he can play too and battle for a spot on the left side. I like J.T. but more as a depth add. Green will be too pricy with a Montour extension. A lot of money locked into our top 4. 14 mil in cap is a good amount but Henrique and Gibby are due extensions. Plus resigning our rfas

Thanks for the feedback.  I completely agree.  Also heard that Eaves should be back but always gonna have to have a safety net there.  I think my salary spent was a little high but I factored in just the win now mode of this year.  Taking into consideration of the extensions next summer as well as the expansion draft, might be wise to save some money as you suggested.  Would absolutely love to see Skinner on this team.  Add another personality, speed and star quality player.

Per Pierre LeBrun

Still some consternation from some buyers today on high prices out there... which you normally hear 2 weeks out but not so much 6 days out. Going to be a fascinating week.

I wonder if the prices are the same in terms of the picks that are being asked for, but the relative value of a first round pick has increased so much in the last few years due to cap concerns that teams don't think the price is worth it any more.

Response to rumors that Panarin is being held out tonight.

Torts on Panarin’s absence and his attempt to end speculation that he was held out for a possible trade: “He Dehydrated Donkey Dung his pants. He was puking. He was doing everything. So enough.”

This will be the first trade deadline that I can remember, where I want the Ducks to be sellers for picks and prospects. And yet, I fear only ahl for ahl trades will actually happen, if any. Oh well.

Yeah, as much as we get attached to certain players we still need cap space. I hope to see some trades, but I fear that we will get some bottom 6 guys and send the young guys back to the Gulls. If I'm not mistaken, if the players are not on the ahl roster before the deadline then they can't play in the playoffs for the ahl team? Can someone confirm this?

O.C Register

Despite rumors to the contrary early last week, the Ducks have no plans to trade Miller before Monday’s deadline. As a professional courtesy, Murray asked Miller if he wished to be dealt to a contender, but according to an NHL source, Miller said he’d like to remain with the Ducks.

Miller, 38, is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent July 1, but said Tuesday he would like to continuing his career and possibly re-sign with the Ducks for 2019-20. He has 376 career victories, the most by a United States-born goaltender.

I get it in Miller’s case. He only signed here because his wife lives in LA and the Kings weren’t an option. The Ducks probably want him back next year too, so doing him a solid makes sense. I find it a little weird he doesn’t want to go chase a Cup for a couple months though. Maybe it wouldn’t mean as much to him if he won it that way or something.

Our goal now is to get to the bottom 4 to have a shot at Jack Hughes or Kakko or, at least, collect as many draft picks as possible.

How come Kings GM has guts to ask Kovalchuk to waive his NTC (please refer to latest article at LA Times), and our GM is "asking for a wish"?  Boy, would be nice if my boss ask me for my wishes once in a while.

I can't stand Murray but don't mind him doing this. He did ask him if he wished to be moved and have one last chance at a Cup like the Kings did with Kovalchuck. The difference is that Kovalchuck would accept a trade to a contender, but that's not what Miller wants which is his right. I don't mind it because Ryan Miller deserves that kind of respect. Plus, he has a 6-team trade list which he can basically make work like an NMC by submitting a list of teams that do no need goaltending if he wanted to.

My issue is that Murray is willing to move someone like Miller and not Silfverberg who has more value in trade and the financial/roster flexibility that would come from moving him.

Of course you ask the Americans winningest goaltender in history, he’s reached legendary status who has played wonderful for us so yeah I like how Bob respects him enough to ask. This goes a long way too in case any other stars ever sign with us in the future; Besides it’s only a 3rd, we need more than that. I’m also super glad he wants to resign with us, he’s still got it!

It matters if BM wants to sign him next year.

Looks like I was wrong. Assume 1st in 2019 vs 2020 is condition of some sort. Don't know about the player coming back, but glad to get a likely high first round pick back.

Strange move by Buffalo to be honest. They already have Ristolainen and Dahlin on the blue line, I guess the talent drops off after that?

Are there any UFAs out there who you guys reckon are underperforming lately? Guys who might just need a change of scenery?

19. Adam Henrique, C/RW / Anaheim Ducks

Teams are calling about Henrique, giving Anaheim’s tailspin, and if the Ducks are looking to retool, moving him could bring back a solid return. He signed a contract extension last July and is locked up for five more seasons.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

Better be more than Vatanen + Blandisi + 3rd considering we chose Monty to replace Vats, and now neither are here.
