Why he’s sitting down in SD is perplexing to say the least. Send that scrub Larsson down

Bob is unhappy with his play and wants him to carry the Gulls to their first win this season. In November.

Yes, it's that bad down in SD.

I'm not sure what's happening but for the last three years we're an injury parade. We have to be the most man games lost for the past three seasons. This is just ridiculous!

We changed the physical coach this offseason, no? Or was it last year? Our guys need to be in better shape...

Ducks are missing few key players in the Core..No excuses what happen last night. Of course what is need is for the Depth to step up.

we did change...

this many injuries could be related to age of players, reliance on certain team members, and more pronounced TOI, but looking around the league, our guys (other than Getz at times) don't seem to be getting played more than they should.

it's very troublesome.  there are a lot of bad reasons to have an injury prone team.  3 seasons in a row sort of rules out luck.  the best case scenario is that BM chooses players while ignoring evidence of fragility.  that's not entirely out of reasonableness, given his tendency to try to pick up skills on the cheap.  there's a reason why some players are inexpensive...

hey, at least we haven't had a player benched for testing positive for something nefarious.

Shawn Horcoff says hello.

The injuries aren't that bad this season (yet) all things considered. Definitely not bad compared to last season. Manson's injury could have been MUCH worse but he's probably only going to be gone 5-6 weeks. Lindholm obviously has something nagging, but you have to wonder if maybe he even plays through it if management wasn't so hell bent on getting ice time for the kids at this point of the season (hey Hampus, take a rest! We'll just call up Mahura and play him 21 minutes!). After 42 & 47, the only really significant player to miss time due to injury has been Kase.

The problem with this team and injuries is that there simply isn't enough depth in the D-corps to overcome the loss of its top-line defenders, even for a game or two. Outside of Gudbranson, this team is woefully short on defenders who can actually, you know, defend.

forgot about Horcoff.

I don’t consider Guhle a significant player yet. He’s still not even a full-time NHLer.

What about Fowler? Isn't he paid to be our top defenseman?

He's at often a time a big defensive liability, not only in pure boneheaded plays and zero physicality in pushing people out of the crease, but he is unpredictable as hell, circles back behind the net, to the blue line and doesn't drive the offense consistently. If offense is the best defense, yeah, he's bad then.

He skates well and can score some, but he's not much of a defensive stalwart.

It seems like Cam needs to find his game a bit.  He's more solid than most, a top 4 on any team, but he's been mishandled in the past, maybe even repressed, and he needs to be coached like an AHL player a bit to hone that confidence, that edge.  He has the skill and sight he needs.  The most frustrating thing about Cam is that he's so damned solid yet he still plays like a rookie a LOT.  Lindholm is turning that corner and ramping up even further.  Manson... has had flashes in the past, but is turning into a NR on D.

Gbud and DelZ are who they are, and they play like middle skilled veterans who are being asked to give more.  Holzer plays like a low skilled veteran - he bumps above his plateau here and there, but always seems to come back down and get outplayed.  He plays frustrated, and he just hasn't made that step to middle skilled veteran.  It feels like a vision or communication problem.

Larsson plays like a rook, chaotic and sometimes just lost.  I haven't seen progression in the short time he's been with the Ducks.  Guhle is just as chaotic, but less lost, and appears to have an offensive heart.

Mahura is a stand out so far - I see him going down the Lindholm path, but getting there faster, and with better offensive upside.  He also doesn't seem to be bothered by his linemates' foibles as much as Lindholm can be.

Cam had the best training and handling compared to any D on the Ducks. He lived with and trained with Scott Niedermayer his first few years so I don't get the repressed comment. Just as with Kariya, the Ducks have spent every year trying to find the perfect partner for Cam. Unfortunately, there isn't a Teemu D out there. Many thought he would be the next Scotty. He had his most points his rookie season and statistically, his points have been pretty much the same over the years. I would like to see another defenseman on the PP until Cam breaks the habit of skating the puck all the way back while the seconds tick away.

it's been a looooong time since scotty was training cam.  i'm talking about all those years he was paired with Bieksa and others, where he had to be the adult on the d line.

Trade for for a rookie SAH RD.

Lol from the bargain bin! Yeah BM has been trying really really hard to land the most incompetent bargain bin player possible. In fact he usually shoves the rest if the items aside trying to look at the bottom of the barrel...

Well in BM's defense I thought he had found a pretty good partner for Fowler in Despres. Too bad he couldn't stay healthy.
Thinking about it, injurywise, I don't think there's a team out there over the last 3-4 years who has had more bad luck (if that's what it is) than us.

Despres -> Whoever -> Gudbranson is the never-ending revolving door like the limping line of Getz-Perry had for their LW. Story of this team. Was never fixed, too.

While living with Niedermayer he was working with Carlyle who was basically teaching him that the best defensive option is to put the puck off the glass every time.

I don't know that Cam has been 'repressed' but maybe we haven't utilised his skill set correctly. His strengths are really his skating with and without the puck and his breakout pass. We know he's not a physical guy, but I really don't think he has a very good hockey vision either. He's not the guy that should be quarterbacking the PP. I guess he is now because he's the best out of a number of poor options, but that's only because Murray has traded away Montour, Vats and Theodore. I honestly think if we had Theodore running our PP that we would be closer to league average.

Vats, I'm not so sure.  He'd probably be better than DelZ, but...  Monty had issues with RC, so maybe he could be rolling now under Eakins.  Theo... Theo would probably be great.

We had the #1 PP in the league in 2015-16 when Vats was manning the point on the top PP unit.

Yeah but look at his more recent stats...

4G/4A in 15 games so far this season, with 1G/2A coming on the PP.

His shot clearly wasn’t the same after he tore the labrum in his right shoulder during the 2017 playoffs, but it looks to me like he’s finally got it back. I would love to have him back on our PP.

Another Kase injury incoming?
I've said it before and I'll say it again. He should have been moved. If he's not completely ruined I hope BM still pulls the trigger. Get whatever you can for him or he's the next Despres/Eaves.

The league is well aware, so we won't get any significant pieces back, if the history you mentioned is taken into account, GM's must be allergic to trading with Bob because he's such a magnet for injury-prone players.

Murray did try to make a bad trade and move Kase for Faulk though lol. If that’s the best deal he could get, it makes even more sense holding onto Kase and hoping he increases his value.
