Conspiracy Theory Anyone ?

Recommended Posts

Anyone else find it strange that on the heels of a court case involving Bertuzzi and the obvious bad pub for the NHL (and thousand times that we are going to see that ugly video of the Moore incident replayed over and over), that the league turns it's head on a pretty nasty hit(elbow, head) delivered last night by the aforementioned Bertuzzi?

Hmmmmm

Am I the only one hungry for some consistency with the leagues disciplinary actions? Wisniewski gets 2 games for eating a popsicle as does Heatley for elbowing Ott to the head. Cooke got the rest of the season for the same thing (despite the track record) you could make the argument that Bertuzzi's track record is just like Coocke's. That Lolander gets 10 games for retaliating against a bad hit from behind against his teammate.. As did Wisniewski for doing the same thing last year, though 8 games. I don't even remember how many Avery got for making fun of Phaneuf's celebrity girlfriend..

If Bertuzzi doesn't raise the elbow it's a completely legal check. Wisniewski charged all the way from Downtown Disney into Seabrook, and Heatley and Cooke went out of their way to deliver blows. Bertuzzi is NOT an example of inconsistency - it's actually the reverse.

Was it dangerous? Yes... You want to compare dangerous hits? Compare Chara and Bertuzzi... they threw the book at both guys on the ice. Cooke and Heatley's garbage were not hockey plays - those were blatant attacks. Chara and Bertuzzi's hits were dangerous, bad even... but they were made in the course of playing hockey. Cooke and Heatley's plays were closer to Bertuzzi on Moore.
